Hi there, and thanks for checking out my website. I'm Emma, and I have worked with mainly female clients for nearly 10 years now as a specialist in Food, Weight & Body Image. Initially I worked mainly with clients struggling with Anorexia or Bulimia back at the beginning of my career, but since Binge Eating Disorder has been recognised as an Eating Disorder, I find I work with a lot more women in their 30's, 40's and even 50's who have struggled with their weight for years. Going on and off diets, joining weight loss programs, being 'healthy' but then 'falling off the wagon' and eating for emotional reasons or bingeing.... It is a distressing place to be.
Over time I've become a specialist in this area, taking on extensive further training and working alongside a Nutritional Therapist. Together we have found a way of working with clients that really does offer them true freedom around food.
If this sounds like you and you are really tired of going through the same old cycle, then do yourself a huge favour, try something different and sign up for one of my programs. You will NOT regret it.
Training and Professional Development
My initial post graduate training was in DCU where I specialised in Families and Relationships, and I then progressed to advanced training in Eating Disorders through the National Centre for Eating Disorders in the UK.
Having worked with clients in both of these areas since qualifying in 2009, I identified Anxiety as a key issue across many areas of distress that clients came to talk about, and I now regularly works with clients, using CBT, to tackle General Anxiety (or excessive worry), Social Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
In 2012, myself and my family moved from Dublin to Cork and I set up a practice in Douglas alongside Rachel Barry, Nutritional Therapist.
I worked mainly with Disordered Eating clients in my private practice, and was also the SIMS IVF Clinic Counsellor for Infertility, Donor and IVF implications and Grief and Loss in Cork for two years.
In the summer of 2017 we relocated back to Dublin and I have my practice in Sandyford.
